Will my good works get me into Heaven?
Jesus described Heaven in John 14:3 as "My Father's house". If Jesus is correct, then who lives in the Father's house? His children. And who are His children? John 1:12 says "As many as receive Jesus, to those God gives power to become the children of God." We are born the first time as children of Adam, but John 3: 1-7 tells us that in order to be God's children and go to heaven, we have to be "born again."

What does that mean? The first time you were born, your parents put their life in you. Even if your parents have died, they still live in you. Their life is in you. That is what gives you the privilege of going to their house and eating their food. It has nothing to do with your goodness. It has everything to do with your relationship to them as children.

So it is in the second birth. When you receive Christ, He is God's life. He repeated this on many occasions. In fact, He said in John 10:10 that the reason He came was for us to have life. If we already had His life, He didn't have to come, but we didn't have Life so He came to give us Life: God's Life. When a person "receives" Christ into his life as Lord and Savior, the very Life of God enters that person. When God's life enters a person, that person becomes God's child, just as a person becomes a child of his parent because the parent's life is in him. From that moment, that person has the right to be called a child of God and live in God's house forever.

If you want to become God's child, ask Jesus to come into your heart as your Lord and Savior.

Pray this prayer, "Jesus, I am a sinner and I don't want to continue down the path of sin and the destruction it brings. Today, I want to turn from sin to YOU. I want you to forgive me of my sins and I want you to come into my life as my Savior and LORD. Teach me to live for You. Thank you for saving me. In Your name I pray, Amen."
